Our Work :: The KLM Difference
KLM emphasizes four points that differentiate it from other leadership development and scholarship programs in South Africa and elsewhere:
KLM serves South Africa’s most rural communities—not cities, not towns, not townships, but rural villages and farm communities.
Our multi-tiered selection process ensures that our scholarship recipients are “the best and the brightest.”
Our twelve month bridging program helps rural students adapt quickly and efficiently to the academic and social rigors of Uplands College.
During their five years at Uplands, KLM students also participate in a leadership development curriculum that prepares them for the responsibilities ahead. This curriculum culminates in a home investment project, a development project that they design and execute in their home community, thus building in each of them an ethic of service and entrepreneurship.
